The Director of Security will be responsible for providing a wide range of security services to an assigned region.
Qualifications
Certifications:
- Driver’s License – Illinois Secretary of State, and
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) – within 2 years of hire, or
- Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) – within 2 years of hire
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Related Field
Work Experience:
- Security Leadership – 5 years
Specialized Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of security policies, procedures, and practices.
- Strong knowledge of the DNV and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiar with the management of a department budget
- Advanced computer skills/familiarity with business software.
- In-depth knowledge of physical security systems and products
- Demonstrated experience with the design, implementation, and management of physical security systems.
Responsibilities
- Directs, supervises, and evaluates the work of reporting staff.
- Hires and develops new employees and conducts performance reviews.
- Motivate and coach staff to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Understands, interprets, and enforces new and/or updated local, state, federal security regulations
- Maintains positive working relations with all outside agencies including local/state police agencies.
- Oversees the daily activities of the department
- Develops and implements short and long-term plans designed
- Achieve department goals and objectives.
- Implements and evaluates department goal achievement
- Creates action plans to support the organization’s vision, philosophy, and strategic plan.
- Collaboration with key stakeholders
- Apply security strategies consistent with the identification of current security risks and threats
- Apply security strategies in alignment with regulatory and budgetary requirements.
- Collaborates with executive security leadership
- Development and implementation of security and safety policies and procedures.
- Represents the department by actively participating in entity/regional level committees and community activities.
- Ensures compliance with security standards and regulatory/accreditation agency requirements.
- Implements and monitors the security management plan performance at assigned facilities.
- Applies continuous quality improvement principles to the security function.
- Provides expertise in healthcare security
- Support a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and team members.
- Performs security risk assessments as required at facilities within assigned region.
- Collaborates with peers to develop and implement policies related to the security function.
- Ensures that revenue, expenses, contribution margin and FTE’s meet or exceed budget.
- Prepares and submits budget and related reports.
- Forecasts and accurately projects expenses.
- Takes corrective action to address negative variances.
- Identifies and proposes capital budget items to senior security leadership as appropriate.
