As a key member of our Global CBC team, you’ll be at the forefront of protecting Amazon’s ability to serve customers worldwide through disruption. This high-visibility position will lead and promote our proven business continuity framework, providing innovative solutions and strategic guidance to teams across Amazon Corporate. You’ll join a dynamic team of security and business continuity experts who manage Amazon’s global corporate security programs, working directly with business leaders to enhance organizational resilience.
In this role, you’ll provide expert guidance and strategic input to strengthen our BC framework, while delivering valuable consultative support throughout the resiliency lifecycle. Your impact will be felt across the organization as you contribute your expertise to support training initiatives and help teams identify and develop recovery plans for critical services during disruptive events.
Based in either Arlington or Seattle, this role reports to the Global Head of CBC, where you’ll have the platform to make a significant impact on Amazon’s Corporate Business Continuity strategy while working with some of the industry’s brightest minds.

Key job responsibilities
• Drive strategic implementation and direction for the CBC program across the Americas region while supporting global initiatives
• Partner with business teams to conduct comprehensive business impact and risk assessments, identify and prioritize critical services, define recovery time objectives, and map critical dependencies
• Maintain and optimize BC documentation within our designated tools to ensure consistency, compliance, and successful attestation
• Develop and propose risk mitigation strategies through data-driven analysis and industry best practices
• Monitor and report on program effectiveness through established metrics and KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and coordinate robust recovery strategies
• Design and facilitate business continuity exercises and tests to validate plan effectiveness, identify gaps, and evaluate recovery capabilities
• Create and deliver targeted training programs to enhance BC awareness and methodology adoption
• Provide subject matter expertise during crisis events, partnering with Crisis Management teams to support incident response and guide recovery efforts
• Ensure business continuity plans are effectively activated and capture lessons learned for future improvement
A day in the life
A typical day in this dynamic role involves partnering with diverse business teams across Amazon to enhance organizational resilience. You might start your morning reviewing critical business impact assessments, then lead a workshop helping teams identify their recovery requirements and dependencies. Throughout the day, you’ll provide expert guidance on business continuity planning, perhaps facilitating a tabletop exercise to test recovery procedures or consulting with stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies. You’ll engage with various business leaders to review and validate their continuity plans, ensuring they meet Amazon’s standards for resilience. When disruptive events occur, you’ll collaborate with Crisis Management teams to provide critical support and expertise. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, emergency management, risk management, or related field
• 5+ years’ experience implementing and managing BC or risk management programs
• Ability to travel across assigned region and internationally
• Demonstrated experience with BC management tools and methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in relevant field
• Experience in leading and managing remote project and program teams
• 10+ years’ experience implementing and managing BC or risk management programs
• Active certification from DRII, BCI, or equivalent industry recognized BC certification
• Experience managing enterprise-wide BC programs in a global organization
• Demonstrated experience in managing the response to significant disruptive events
• Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and IT service continuity
• Strong understanding of information security principles and compliance frameworks
• Experience working in a highly regulated or complex corporate environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to executive audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
